Observing Korean Markets from the Ground Level.
Notes, reflections, and insights on real estate, stocks, and the economy in Korea – written from lived experience.
Hi — welcome to Sharon Research.
I live in Korea and write about what I observe and learn in the Korean real estate market, the stock market, and the broader economy.
As a market participant, I’m trying to analyze and gain insights into the Korean economy – and share that process along the way.
These are some of the key characteristics and major changes taking place in korea.
1. Because many of its industries depend heavily on exports, they are highly sensitive to global market shifts and tend to adapt quickly.
2. Sectors such as semiconductors, automobiles, shipbuilding, and robotics are largely manufacturing-based, and their potential is being reevaluated as their integration with AI — often referred to as “Physical AI” — shows promising progress.
3. Another sector that has recently gained global attention is the cultural industry, including K-pop, cosmetics, and a broader range of Korean consumer products. While it may still be in an early or partially trend-driven phase, its long-term implications should not be overlooked.
4. The shipbuilding industry has been gaining attention recently due to its large-scale cooperation with the United States, while the defense manufacturing sector is expanding its presence abroad.
I write about what I see — in neighborhoods, in policy announcements, in market reactions, in data.
And I’m trying to make sense of what’s happening in the Korean economy – and what the latest news or data might be telling us.
I hope my blog serves as a window to gain understanding and insights into Korea’s economy.
